چکیده

HEIGHTS WITH POLINSAR DATA Lulu Tan , Ruliang Yang, Weidong Yu 1 Institute of electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; 2 Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Email: [email protected]; [email protected]; Polarimetric synthetic aperture radar interferometry (PolInSAR) is a perspective remote sensing technique that has been intensively used for extracting forest heights. There are many forest parameter inversion methods. Among these methods, maximum likelihood inversion method computes the maximum-likelihood estimate of the vegetation parameters based directly on the sample coherency matrix [1, 2]. Moreover, the formula for the coherency matrix of vegetated area was predicted by the model of Treuhaft and Siqueira [3], which is random volume over ground model (RVoG). It is obvious that the estimation of sample coherency matrix is of great importance in this inversion process. A coherency matrix estimation method based on the PolInSAR coherence region shapes is presented in this paper.

Three-stage inversion improvement for forest height estimation using dual-PolInSAR data

This paper addresses an algorithm for forest height estimation using single frequency single baseline dual polarization radar interferometry data. The proposed method is based on a physical two layer volume over ground model and is represented using polarimetric synthetic aperture radar interferometry (PolInSAR) technique. The presented algorithm provides the opportunity to take advantages of t...

A Modified Dual-Baseline PolInSAR Method for Forest Height Estimation

This paper investigates the potentials and limitations of a simple dual-baseline PolInSAR (DBPI) method for forest height inversion. This DBPI method follows the classical three-stage inversion method’s idea used in single baseline PolInSAR (SBPI) inversion, but it avoids the assumption of the smallest ground-to-volume amplitude ratio (GVR) by employing an additional baseline to constrain the i...

The Specificity of P Band Polinsar Data over Vegetation

RESUME A polarimetric and PolInSAR analysis has been conducted on the Nezer forest (Southern France) at L and P band on high resolution SAR data acquired with the ONERA RAMSES system in January 2004. The dataset was investigated for its potential for retrieval of forest parameters from SAR data using three different techniques: • Radiometric inversion from the cross-polarized term, • PolInSAR i...

Underlying Topography Estimation over Forest Areas Using High-Resolution P-Band Single-Baseline PolInSAR Data

This paper discusses the potential and limitations of high-resolution P-band polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (PolInSAR) in underlying topography estimation over forest areas. Time-frequency (TF) analysis in the azimuth direction is utilized to separate the ground scattering contribution from the total PolInSAR signal, without the use of any physical model, because the...

A Novel Algorithm for Forest Height Estimation from PolInSAR Image

Forest height is important information for many forest management activities and is a critical parameter in models of ecosystem procedures. Recently, there have been plenty of researches on the retrieval of forest height by single baseline PolInSAR such as the ESPRIT method, three-stage inversion but the methods tend to underestimate the forest height due to attenuation of the electromagnetic w...
